Hearts, Flowers and Fancy Ingredients for Focals
A 2 day Class with Madeline Bunyan at MangoBeads
Both of these days together will form a springboard for you to experiment and take further on your own personal bead journey, lots of different ideas to try, and many ways for you to make it your own! We will be using 104 coe glass. Suitable for the intermediate lampworker, looking to improve but lampworkers with less experience and plenty of enthusiasm can learn lots too.

Day 1- Fancy ingredients for Focals – Saturday 21st June
Focus on focals!
As well as some silver glass and also some silver foil, we will look at other special ingredients to layer in your beads,
so we will be making and applying:
-Silvered ivory shards as well as other fun recipes
-Goldstone stringer & variations of these.
Creating freeform beads using marvering techniques as well as mashers, paying extra attention to getting good bead holes and keeping them, working with beads that are on the larger side, (though not too big, you’re meant to be learning, not spending the time just melting enough glass!)
The idea behind this day is to show you lots of different ‘ingredients’ that can be used any number of ways, and mixed with any of your own personal favourite ingredients, to produce something that is your own.
Day two- Hearts and Flowers! – Sunday 22nd June
We’ll start the day with my cherry blossom beads, these use layers, silver glass, and stringer work, and I’ll share lots of tricks and tips on how to fix mistakes with these too.
I’ll be showing you how to make my 3D flowers like those in my tutorial, but in more depth
we will use the decorative elements from day one to create our beads, and then add my 3D flowers to them
I’ll also be showing you how to make silver glass encased heart beads, where the colour goes right up into the ‘lobes’ of the heart, (the techniques used in this are really useful to transfer to other shapes of bead) these are great beads to add flowers and peacock feathers too, as well as other decorative elements.
This day is a quality rather than quantity type day, throughout I will be giving tips on improving your bead holes, by which I mean not just the shape of the hole, but the encasement layers around it, and general finish.
Glass Bundles will be available to purchase on the day, however if you have your own or would prefer to bring what you have I will send out a tool / glass requirements list nearer the time.
If booking accommodation please make sure you can cancel if due to lack of numbers this class is cancelled. It will run with a minimum of 5 Students per day.

Yesterday I taught Mum how to make a wig wag, she has never made one before, and although she had her first lampwork lesson the same day as me, she hasn’t had time to do very much at all as she makes her own fused glass work and silver jewellery and runs a shop and, well, lots of things really!
anyway, I thought you’d like to see how she got on, here is her first ever wig wag:
and to show you how long it is:
so do you want to make some of your own yet?
